Jane Alliance Neighbourhood Services (“JANS”, “we”, “our”) is a registered charity serving the Mount Dennis community from 909 Jane Street in Toronto. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what information we collect through janealliance.com and in the course of delivering our programs, and how we use and protect it.
Information we collect
- Inquiries: when you contact us by form, email or phone, we receive your name, contact details and message. We use them only to respond and to provide services you request.
- Program registration: information you provide when registering for a JANS program (such as the food bank or employment services) is used to deliver that program, keep you informed about it, and meet reporting requirements from program funders.
- Volunteer and employment applications: information you submit when applying to volunteer or work with JANS is used only for recruitment.
Donations
Online donations are processed securely by CanadaHelps, an independent platform. JANS never sees or stores your payment card information; CanadaHelps issues your charitable tax receipt and handles your payment details under its own privacy policy. Vehicle donations are processed by Donate A Car Canada under their privacy policy.
Website, cookies and analytics
Our website does not require an account, and does not have comment, chat or messaging features. Like most websites, it may use a small number of cookies necessary for the site to function, and basic, anonymous usage statistics (such as pages visited and device type) that help us improve the site. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors, and we do not serve advertising.
Photos and community events
We sometimes photograph JANS programs and community events for our website, reports and outreach. We seek consent before publishing photographs in which individuals are identifiable, and you may ask us at any time to remove a photo of you or your child from our website.
How we protect and share information
Personal information is accessible only to JANS staff and volunteers who need it to deliver services, and is stored securely. We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only as needed to deliver services you have requested, to meet legal obligations, or in aggregate, non-identifying form when reporting to program funders such as the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and the City of Toronto.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law and funding agreements, and dispose of it securely afterwards.
Your choices
You may ask us at any time to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. We will respond promptly.
